Overview

In 1921, the Grote-Rankin Furniture Store #2 stood at Pike Street and 5th Avenue in Downtown Seattle, WA. Between 1909 and about 1911, the Grote-Rankin Company had its store in the Whitcomb Building at 1401-1411 2nd Avenue. This building was torn down to make room for an addition to the Bon Marché Department Store.

Building History

The Grote-Rankin Company operated furniture stores in Spokane and Seattle, WA, and, c. 1915, were dealers of Great Majestic Ranges, Howard Overdraft Heaters, Hoosier Kitchen Cabinets, Free Sewing Machines, Daveno Davenport Beds, Ostermoor Matresses, Rixdorfer Inlaid Linoleum and, most notably, Gustav Stickley Craftsman Furniture.
