In 1988, chefs Lissa Doumani and her husband, Hiro Sone, opened Terra, a notable restaurant serving French and Northern Italian dishes. This restaurant became a training ground for many chefs before closing on 06/02/2018. The owners could not find trained staff members; rental prices in Napa Valley, particularly after significant fires struck Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties in 10/2017, became too expensive to allow low-paid kitchen and wait staff to afford to train there.
