Ventura Street
Fresno, CA

The Fresno, California, City Directory, 1898, (p. 95), indicated that the Fresno County Orphanage was located "one mile east of city on Ventura."

Overview

The Fresno County Orphanage was a two-story, Mission Revival Style building with a recessed porch wrapping around its first floor. It had the familiar Mission Revival vocabulary elements, apparently thick, stucco-faced walls, arched openings and scalloped, parapeted gables.
