Overview

This meeting hall for the fraternal group, the Ancient Order of United Workmen (AOUW), founded by railroad employee John Jordan Upchurch (03/28/1820-01/19/1887) in Meadsville, PA, in 1868, was in existence at this address in 1907. The AOUW became one of the earliest and largest fraternal groups to offer a death insurance benefit to workingmen's families.
