The Hotel Ramona occupied the northeast corner of 1st Avenue and Seneca Street.

Overview

This four-floor, load-bearing-masonry hotel catered to a middle and working-class clientele, and was one of many hotels that were built on 1st Avenue during the period from 1884 until 1910. The arrival in late 1883 of the Northern Pacific link to the transcontinental railroad made travel to Seattle much easier and increased the flow of tourists and new immigrants to the city. Most of these 1st Avenue hotels have been razed, save for two, the Hotel Diller (Built 1889) and the Colonnade Hotel (1898).

Building Notes

In c. 1903, two storefronts of the Hotel Ramona were occupied by the Queen City Oysters and Chop House and Bell's Tailors.
