Overview

This three-story Italianate business block stood on the northeast corner of California and Webb Streets c. 1883. (See the San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1883, p. 916.) It operated at this address from approximately 1883 until 1892. In 1892, Albert Miller served as President of the Savings Union, assisted by George W. Beaver, Vice-President, and Lovell White, Cashier and Secretary. Directors of the bank included (in addition to Miller, Beaver and White): George C. Boardman, Daniel E. Martin, Joseph G. Eastland, Thomas Magee, W.C.B. DeFremery, Charles Pace, and E.B. Pond. As of 06/30/1892, the San Francisco Savings Unikon had deposits of $25,890,653, and total assets of $27,589,181. (See Oakland, California, City Directory, 1892, front cover.)

Alteration

By 1900, the San Francisco Savings Union Bank Headquarters had been completely rebuilt; three floors were added and the exterior had been enlarged and remodeled, making it a different building entirely.
