Jasper Newton Field (1855-1929), served as the Minister of the First Baptist Church of Redlands, 1906-1908. He would be instrumental in obtaining approval from the American Baptist Convention to locate a university in Redlands. He would go on to become its first President, serving from 1909-1914.
