The Holy Family Church #1 began on 05/10/1910 with services in a "cottage church" located at the corner of El Centro and Fremont Avenues. Use of Holy Family Church #1 did not last long. According to the History of Holy Family web page: "By the following August, a temporary 'bungalow church' was built to house the growing congregation until funds could be raised for a more permanent building, a 'handsome edifice,' not only for themselves but for generations to come who would make their homes in this fast growing community." (See "History of Holy Family,"Accessed 01/21/2014.) This bungalow church served the congregation in two locations, first at the intersection of El Centro Avenue and Fremont Avenue in South Pasadena. Holy Family Church #2 was moved to a new location at Fremont Ave. and Rollin Street c. 1923. It was used as a temporary meeting space in this new location until the larger Holy Family Church #3 could be completed to the design of architect Emmett G. Martin (1889-1937) in 1928.
