Overview

The Abracadabra House had many locations during its existence. It was located at 2435 Haste Street in 1907. (See University of California Bulletins, New Series, vol. IX, no. 1, Register, 1906-1907, [Berkeley: University of California, 1907] p. 99.) and at 2635 Hillegass Avenue in Berkeley, CA, in 1908. (See the University of California Register, 1908-1909, [Berkeley: University of California Press, 1909], p. 109.) From at least 1913 through 1923, it stood at 2616 Virginia Street in Berkeley, CA. (See the University of California Register, 1913-1914, [Berkeley: University of California Press, 1914], p. 149, University of California Register, 1915-1916, [Berkeley: University of California Press, 1916], p. 179, and University of California Register, 1922-1923, [Berkeley: University of California Press, 1923], p. 385.)

Demolished

This clubhouse for men studying at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), burned in the Berkeley Hills Fire of 09/17/1923. The replacement of this fraternity hall was the second design by the talented architect Lionel H. Pries (1897-1968).
