Architects Wilder and White, winners of the 1911 Washington State Capitol design competition, supervised construction of their plans between 1912-1929. This ensemble of government buildings included the State Capitol, the Temple of Justice, the Temple of Insurance and the Capitol Powerhouse. Tunnels connected the Capitol Powerhouse with all buildings, distributing electrical cables, water pipes, and steam ducts.
