A bond issue calling for $35,000 to build a new high school was voted upon 0n 07/28/1917. Residents of the nearby town of Cottonwood, CA, agreed to be part of the unified school district for this bond issue. (See "Building News," American Architect, vol. CXII, no. 2167, 07/04/1917, p. 8.) The first high school opened in 1909.
