School administrators named this building, completed in 1962, Spindt Hall, for Herman Adolph Spindt (1893-1960), a on-time Principal of Bakersfield High School (1922-1938) who later went on to become Director of Admissions at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1946. Spindt was very active in school affairs in CA during his lifetime, both at the college and secondary levels. He died on 03/19/1960.

Spindt Hall was built in two parts, a first block in 1924, and a second in 1937-1938. Charles Howatt Biggar designed both. Renovations occurred to the two portions in 1962 and 1999.
