The local sheriff, Charles Behrens purchased this gable-roofed dwelling in 1899, beginning a continuous chain of family occupancy that concluded in 2003, with the death of Judge Richard B. Eaton. Efforts were underway c. 2010 to transform it into a house museum, the "Behren-Eaton Museum."
