Structural elements were erected during the Depression for the Chinook Hotel, but cladding and furnishing the building did not occur until the late 1940s. Architectural historians Sally Woodbridge and Roger Montgomery observed of the Chinook, saying that it was "...finally finished in 1950 as a hotel sheathed in one of the nation's first all aluminum curtain walls." This exterior was removed c. 1980 and was reconstructed at that time.
