The row houses at 113-119 North 4th Street dated c. 1910 and were an unusual building type for the region. According to Sally Woodbridge and Roger Montgomery in their Guide to Architecture in Washington State: An Environmental Perspective, "...[T]hese houses constitute a rare passage in Northwest vernacular residential design." (See Sally Woodbridge and Roger Montgomery, Guide to Architecture in Washington State: An Environmental Perspective, (Seattle, WA: University of Washington Press: 1980], p. 379.) In 1980, other row houses occurred nearby at 317-331 East A Street and 401-408 East B Street in Yakima.
