The Detroit architect, Albert Kahn (1905-1942), the auto companies' go-to designer for much of the period 1900-1942, designed and supervised construction of this second assembly plant in Seattle, WA, for the Ford Motor Company between 1930-1932. This second factory was used by ford from 1932-1940, when it was turned over to the US Army during the build-up for America's entry into World War II. It later became commercial and office space called the "Federal Center South Complex."
