This cathedral was superseded by the construction of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist (1925-1952). Fund-raising and construction of the new church was avidly pursued by Right Reverend Edward Makin Cross, 3rd Bishop of Spokane, WA. To create the new cathedral, three congregations merged: All Saints Cathedral, Saint James's Church and Saint Peter's Church, in some cases selling their properties to pay for the new English Gothic cathedral.
