This bridge south of the 1st Avenue South Bridge #1, was erected c. 1994-1996. It served both north and south lanes during 1996-1998, while the 40-year-old north bridge had its drawbridge replaced and both roadway approaches rebuilt.

This bridge underwent seismic retrofitting on Saturday-Sunday, 03/10-11/2001, after the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake damaged the bridge's pier supports.
