Peter Judson and his family arrived in Tacoma, WA, in 10/1853; soon after arriving, Judson claimed 321 acres covering what became Downtown Tacoma, WA. He erected a house which in 1916 was located "...where the Union Passenger Station now stands." (See Herbert Hunt, Tacoma Its History and Builders A Half Century of Activity, [Chicago: S.J. Clarke Publishing Company, 1916], vol. 1, p. 13.)

According to historian Herbert Hunt: "The Judson House was about 24 x 18 feet, with an eight-foot lean-to." (See Herbert Hunt, Tacoma Its History and Builders A Half Century of Activity, [Chicago: S.J. Clarke Publishing Company, 1916], vol. 1, p. 14.)
