Swedish carpenter and millwright Nicholas De Lin (born 1817) was one of the first Caucasian settlers in Tacoma, WA, arriving on 04/01/1852. He established a sawmill soon after his arrival, and built this house from lumber milled in his own facility. It was located a nearby to the mill, facing Commencement Bay. Clapboards of the exterior were placed vertically; cedar boards of the interior lapped one another. The house measured roughly 24 by 30 feet.
