Bank History
This bank building embodied the prosperity of early Tacoma, WA; Sally Woodbridge and Roger Montgomery noted in their Guide to Architecture in Washington State, (Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1980, p. 261) that the bank was the tallest building west of the Mississippi when completed in 1911.
Building Notes
One of the Puget Sound Bank Building's original architects, George Gove (1870-1956), maintained his office in it as late as 1955. He occupied Room #1611 in that year. (SeeTacoma, Washington, City Directory, 1955, p. 4.)
