This was the first retail store opened by Stone, Fisher and Lane; the firm (later known as Stone and Fisher) opened stores in Everett, WA, (1896), Seattle, WA, (1900), Olympia, WA, (1903) and Bellingham, WA, (1905); the firm built two 5-story stores in Tacoma and Seattle in late 1905, the latter in the Galland Building. A sizable warehouse serving the retail stores was located in Tacoma.
