$54 million of economic stimulus money went to the Olympic National Park in 04/2009, some of which was earmarked for the demolition of two dams, the Elwha Dam and the Glines Canyon Dam. Congress passed legislation paving the way for the removal of the dams in 1993, but insufficient money existed until the allocation of the 2009 Stimulus Money. Work was scheduled to begin in 2011 and finish by 2013 or 2014.
