Building History

Bankers Henry L. Pittock and Frederick Leadbetter commissioned this building from the leading architect in the city at the time, A.E. Doyle, and his firm, Doyle, Patterson and Beach. Their bank failed in 1927, as did subsequent financial institutions headquartered here.

Building Notes

The previous building on this parcel of Downtown Portland land collapsed.

Alteration

Alterations were made to brickwork of the bank's front in 1983; buff bricks were re-tinted white. The front entrance and its marquee underwent alterations in 1936 and 1984.
