The Seattle architect, Edwin Walker Houghton, designed the Spokane Theatre in 1900-1901, one of his earlier designs. Between 1898-1915, Houghton produced at least 10 theatres across the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere, working with John Cort (1859-1929), the Seattle-based vaudeville impresario, on a number of occasions.
