Hotelier, Henry Strumer, operated the Alderbrook Resort between 1913-1927; he sold the property to two women, Clara Eastwood and Jessie Mustard, and to Eloise Flagg, who replaced Mustard as a partner. Eastwood and Flagg enlarged the acreage to 360 by around 1930. They, in turn sold their resort to Schafer Logging and Lumber Company of Aberdeen, WA, in 1947, and this company renovated the inn and built 21 new tourist cottages. Dickman Lumber Company bought the parcel from Schafer and ran the resort until 1959. A Hoodsport, WA, real estate broker, Wes Johnson, and his family owned Alderbrook until 1998, when it changed hands to Crista Ministries, who used it as a Christian-themed conference center. In late 2001, Crista sold the resort to North Forty Lodging, who planned an extensive renovation of the inn and grounds. North Forty contracted with MTM Luxury Lodging for the daily operation of Alderbrook in the 2000s.
Tel: 360.898.2200 (2008); in 2008, the resort operated an 18-hole golf course, 1500-foot marina dock, and a spa.
