Begun in the early 1960s, this restaurant/bar originally served fishermen and other workingmen in Ballard; it was purchased in the early 1990s, renovated, and made a fixture of Ballard's hip night life centered on Ballard Avenue. The Hattie's Hat web site indicated that the "bar was hand carved in France, shipped around the Horn, and installed here in 1904." (See http://www.hattieshat.com/ Accessed 04/10/2009) Artist Fred Oldfield painted the 24-foot mural that extends behind the length of the bar.

Tel: 206-784-0175 (2008); this restaurant also featured Aunt Harriet's Lounge.
