Val J. Powelson designed the exclusive Indian Wells Country Club, which in the late 1950s counted comedian Phil Harris, bandleader/actor Desi Arnaz, and singer Bing Crosby as members. (See Wood Working Digest, v. 61, 1959, p. 57.)
Gerald McCabe, designer and owner of Santa Monica's SM Furniture Company, produced the furniture for the dining room of the Indian Wells Country Club.
