The U.S. Navy used this facility for military housing for fifty years between 1907-2007.

Demolished; the City of Seattle and the U.S. Navy reached an agreement to demolish 66 of the Capehart Homes in 09/2007. In exchange for the loss of this housing, the City of Seattle originally promised to build at least 66 housing units for low- and moderate-income residents in the near-by Fort Lawton Army Reserve by 2009. Land on which the homes stood was be returned to open space becoming part of Discovery Park. American Eagle, a private, Texas-based real estate development company received a contract from the U.S. Navy to develop housing for military families. (A 1996 federal law forbade the U.S. Navy from operating housing units.) American Eagle built compensatory housing units in Marysville, WA, close to the US Navy base in Everett. The last families left the Capehart Houses for Marysville housing in 12/2009. The buildings were torn down in the summer of 2010.
