Waddington joined the US Army on 05/20/1917 in Los Angeles, CA, and had the rank of Captain. He was discharged on 01/10/1919 at Camp Humphreys, VA.

The American Architect and Building Newspublished a note in its 07/09/1919 issue: "City voted $88,000 bonds for combined electric light and waterworks plant and $55,000 for gas plant. A.B. Waddingham, Tajo Building, Los Angeles, City Engineer." (See "Building News," American Architect and Building News, vol. CXVI, no. 2272, 07/09/1919, p. 14.) Waddingham occupied Room #307 in the Tajo Block. He held his position as Chief Engineer through the 1920s.

Born in New Mexico c. 1882, Waddingham lived on the family farm off of California Street in Riverside, CA, in 1910. Ten years later, he lived at 1616 Reid Street in Los Angeles, CA.

He resided at 1310 Cherokee Avenue with his wife and two children according to the 1930 US Census. Waddington entered the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Sawtelle, Los Angeles, CA, on 08/01/1930 to treat Dupuytren's contracture in fingers of his left hand.

He was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, CA.

Parents

His father was Joseph Waddingham (born c. 05/1831 in England-d. 1903 in CA), his mother, Francis A. Waddingham (born c. 12/1835 in Ireland). They married c. 1849. Along with Albert, Joseph and Francis had two other sons, Joseph H Waddingham (1863-1930) and Edward Francis Waddingham (born c. 03/1869 in Canada-d. 1944).

In 1900, Joseph was a farmer in Riverside, CA. The family was prosperous enough to retain a servant, Maria Smith (born c. 05/1842 in Canada). Albert worked as a farm hand on his family's ranch. He married Marie A. Garnier Waddingham (born 06/30/1883 in CA-d. 11/17/1962 in CA). Her father was French, her mother, Canadian.

He and Marie had two children: Lumina A. Waddingham Weber (born 03/04/1907 in CA-d. 05/30/1979 in Camarillo, CA) and Frederic C. Waddingham (born 07/11/1909 in CA-d. 03/22/1948 in Los Angeles, CA).
