Robert W. Winter also served as an Editor of "California Design 1910." "In contrast to the classic monumentality of school design in 1908, architects Myron Hunt and Elmer Grey designed the Polytechnic Elementary School as a single-story, residential scale, redwood-clad building with all rooms opening onto a covered arcade. This was the original scheme for much of the school construction in California continuing to the present."
