"While famed Seattle restaurateur Walter Clark is often credited with opening the 'Twin T-P's,' a 1937 news article and Polk's City Directory list Herman E. Olson as the first proprietor. 'Seattle, accustomed to exceptionally attractive eating places, will be treated to the unusual in design and service when the Twin T- P's opens tomorrow,' according to a Seattle Times report on March 12, 1937. 'A huge open-pit fireplace, covered with seashells; Indian paintings and bright Indian designs feature the interior.' Clark's last name eventually appeared in front of 'Twin T-P's,' but not until 1942--and after at least two other people owned it. Clark, who had as many as 22 restaurants in the Northwest and ran concessions on Washington State Ferries for 32 years, died in 1990."
