Publication Notes

In his later years, Johnson became very interested in public housing, and befriended the noted housing theorist, Clarence Stein. Stein worked with Johnson on the planning of Baldwin Hills Village. The Los Angeles Public Library's California Index stated: "Stein, consulting architect to the project, discusses the architectural philosophy and planning of the Baldwin Hills Village, which was, in his words, 'another child of the long depression.' Excellent source containing architectural renderings, numerous photos, and cost information."
