Relocation

Herbert S. Heineman was born in Chicago, IL, c. 1873, and moved with his family to Pasadena, CA, c. 1894.

He resided at 818 Montrose Avenue, South Pasadena, CA, in 1918. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation Registration State: California; Registration County: Los Angeles; Roll: 1531197; Draft Board: 6, accessed 04/17/2017.)

In 1920, Herbert lived with his wife, Elsie, their two children and his in-laws--John and Mary Cleve-- in a house at 2144 Beachwood Drive in Los Angeles. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation Year: 1920; Census Place: Los Angeles Assembly District 63, Los Angeles, California; Roll: T625_106; Page: 3B; Enumeration District: 161; Image: 644, accessed 04/17/2017.) The family remained in this home in 1930. The US Census of that year indicated that the house had a value of $15,000 in that year. In 1940, perhaps due to the effects of the Depression, the family of four had moved to a rented residence at 863 South Stanley Avenue in Los Angeles. Rent was $50 per month, and the Heinemans had taken in a lodger to add extra income. Herbert was 68 at this time.
