Albert D. Poe was born in Sedan, KS. Just after his birth, his family resided in Caney, KS, a town in the southeastern part of the state, on the OK border. In 1940, when Albert was 15, the Poes lived in Brinion Mountain, Cowlitz County, WA.

Poe and his wife lived at 3313 Ferndale Place NE in Renton in 1951. They moved to 3521 East 96th Street from 1953-1955. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1955, p. 1138.)

Poe passed away at age 61 in Pullman, WA, and was buried in the Pullman City Cemetery.

His father was Albert L Poe, his mother, Inez L. Capps. His father worked as a barber, and his mother ran the household. Inez and Albert L. Poe had three children: Albert Donald, Patricia Lou (born c. 1928-died 1983), and Floyd A. Patricia Lou Poe married Charles L. Jewett on 05/15/1950 in Skagit County, WA. Floyd A. Poe was born 09/12/1935 and resided in Ocean Park, WA, in the 1990s.

Some sources do not agree about the date of Poe's birth. Find A Grave.com (accessed 03/09/2017) listed it as 02/25/1923. The US Department of Veterans Affairs, BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010, listed it as 09/23/1925 (accessed 03/09/2017). Most indicated that it was 02/23/1925.
