Personal

Born in Detroit, MI, Ziegler moved to Cordova, AK, in 1909 to operate a religious mission for miners; he stayed here 5 years before returning to the East Coast to study for the priesthood. He was ordained, and returned periodically to Alaska, thereafter. He resumed study of painting at Yale Univeristy in 1920 and worked later with another painter, Gerrit A. Beneker, in the State of Massachusetts. He settled in Seattle, WA, in 1924, staying here until his death in 1969.
