Parents

His father was Nick M. Gianelli (born c. 1894), who worked as a farm laborer in 1940, in and around Stockton. Born in CA, his father had had a seventh-grade education. His mother was Lena Gianelli (born c. 1900 in CA), who managed the household. Robert also had a sister, Janice (born c. 1922 in CA).
