Personal

Born in the Bay Area, Wallmann travelled to Philadelphia for two years of college and returned to Oregon, where he spent most of the rest of his life. He died in Eugene, OR, at the age of 77. His last residence was in the 97405 zip code of that city.

Father, George R. Wallmann, Sr.

Wallmann married in 1930; he also married Jean Wallmann, who survived him.

When surveyed in 1955, Wallmann reported having had two children. Ritz, in Architects of Oregon, (Portland, OR: Lair Hill Publishing Company, 2002, p.407), indicated that Wallmann had had two sons by his wife before Jean Wallmann.

When surveyed in 1955, Wallmann indicated that he had visited England, France and Spain. There is a discrepancy about the location of Wallmann's birth; the American Architects Directory 1956 (New York, NY: R.R. Bowker, 1956, p. 583) indicated that he was born in San Francisco, CA. Richard E. Ritz in his Architects of Oregon, (Portland, OR: Lair Hill Publishing Company, 2002, p.406) stated that he was born in Oakland, CA. As the American Architects Directory used information supplied by the architect, it is being cited as the birthplace until proven otherwise.
