Fuller Claflin, Sidney P. Lovell, James Madison Wood

Active 1891-1897

Firm Notes

James M. Wood employed Sidney Lovell as an apprentice and draftsman, before forming an architectural partnership with him in 1891. At first, the partnership was headquarrtered in San Francisco, but the two architects took on a third partner, Fuller Claflin, who managed the West Coast operations, while Wood and Lovell returned to work in Chicago and New York. The California Architect and Building News reported in its issue of 01/20/1893: "Architects Wood & Lovell, have entered into copartnership with Mr. Fuller Claflin of this city. Messrs. Wood and Lovell will confine their attention principally to New York and Chicago, while Mr. Claflin will look after the Pacific Coast interests." (See Wood and Lovell Notice, California Architect and Building News, vol. XIV, no. 1, 01/20/1893, p. 1.)

The firm dissolved in 1897.
