Firm Notes

This pair formed a partnership soon after John Austin came to Los Angeles, CA, from San Francisco, CA. According to Los Angeles Public Library Local History Collection Biography, Chauncey Fitch Skilling, the two practiced together for three years before 1898. The partnership lasted into 1899, as they are credited with preparing plans for a two-story brick building for Wesley Shoemaker in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, 04/24/1899. In 1899, Austin and Skilling maintained their office in Room #46 of the California Bank Building. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1899, p. 1000)
