In the 1920s, the Winter Construction Company developed a reputation for building theatres; an important early job was for evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson's Angelus Temple in 1921-1922; prior to the company's efforts on the Angelus Temple, Brook Hawkins and the Winter Construction Company worked on Sid Grauman's highly publicized and technically innovative Metropolitan Theatre (1921-1923) in Los Angeles.

In 1925, the Winter Construction Company maintained an office at 2404 West 7th Street in Los Angeles.
