A $862 million merger occurred in 2008-2009 between the Perini Corporation (a construction company based in Framingham, MA), and Tutor-Saliba Corporation of Sylmar, CA, to form the umbrella firm, "Tutor-Perini Corporation," headquartered in Sylmar.

Prior to the 2008 merger, Perini purchased James A. Cummings, Incorporated, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 2003.

Since at least 2010, this Sylmar, CA-based company had three main divisions: a Civil [engineering] Group, Building Group and a Management Services Group.

In 2018, the Tutor-Perini Civil Group, focused on large infrastructure projects, consisted of Tutor Perini Civil, Frontier-Kemper Constructors Incorporated, (based in Evansville, IN, acquired in 06/2011), Lunda Construction (based in Black River Falls, WI,acquired in 07/2011), Black Construction (aka "E.E. Black, Limited," based in Barrigada, Guam, acquired in 2008) and Becho, Incorporated, (of Salt Lake City, UT, acquired 08/18/2001). (Becho, in 2018, had two offices, one in Sylmar, CA, and the other in Salt Lake City, UT.)

Tutor-Perini's Building Group included Tutor Perini Building Corp., Rudolph and Sletten (acquired in 10/2005), Roy Anderson Corporation (of Gulfport, MS, acquired in 04/2011) and Perini Management Services.

Its Specialty Group included Desert Mechanical (of Las Vegas, NV, acquired in 2008 as "Desert Plumbing and Heating,"), Fisk Electric (of Houston, TX acquired 01/03/2011), Five Star Electric, Nagelbush Mechanical, WDF and Superior Gunite (based in Lakeview Terrace, CA, acquired 11/2010). The GreenStar Services Corporation, based in Mount Vernon, NY, consisting of Five Star Electric, Nagelbush Mechanical and WDF, was acquired in 07/2011.
