Students from the University of Washington Department of Landscape Architecture, under the supervision of Professors Jeff Hou and Daniel Winterbottom, created a park for the White Center Community Development Association in 2007. The park occupied 5.6 acres and was made possible by grants form the State of Washington (4500,000) and Starbucks Coffee Company ($550,000). Great emphasis was placed on deriving community input on the design and features of the park.
