Farquhar designed this house for the silent film star, Antonio Moreno, a Spaniard who relocated to Hollywood after a stint in seminary school. In the late 1920s, Anthony Moreno and his socialite wife, Daisy Canfield Danziger, gave grand dinner parties for Hollywood celebrities at their hilltop house.

The Canfield-Moreno Estate had prodigious proportions, large enough for lavish entertaining. It contained 8 bedrooms and baths, and a mammoth 15,388 square feet of living space sprawling on a 169,000 square-foot lot. Because Moreno invested in land nearby to his on the steep hills of Silver Lake, this portion of the neighborhood has been known as "Moreno Highlands."
