The George Channing House won an Award of Merit in the American Institute of Architects Honor Award Program, 1955; this residence stepped down a steep hillside in Berkeley, CA, with three floors arranged on three levels. A large deck, oriented to the main views, dominated the middle floor. The house's exterior was sheathed in flush redwood siding.
