Overview

A design competition was staged by the City of Los Gatos, CA, for a new civic center in 02-03/1963.

Building Notes

The Los Gatos Civic Center was slated to cost $888,000. A competition judged by the city's vice-mayor, Henry Crall, a planner, Nestor Barrett, and architects Ernest J. Kump, Jr., (1911-1999), Gerald McCue (born 1928), and Charles Moore (1925-1993). Judging was to occur between 02/26/1963-03/18/1963. Barrett had developed a general plan for the Town of Los Gatos published in 1959. Barrett had also completed plans for the Cities of Atherton, CA, (1957), Campbell, CA (1960), Hollister, CA, (1965), San Juan Bautista, CA, (1965), and San Benito County, CA, (1965). He created plans for downtown devlopment and a Civic Center in Campbell, CA, in 1961.
