Thomas designed the six-building Gateway Plaza complex for the Irvine Company of Newport Beach, one of the largest landowners and developers in Orange County, CA; altogether, the complex contained 109,000 square feet of office space in 2006; Robert Lawson was the Structural Engineer; the Los Angeles, CA, Office of Swinerton and Walberg acted as the General Contractor; Gateway Plaza won a 1976 Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute Design Award;
