Horton House was located on the site of the later U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego. In 1899, the Horton House stood on D Street (later renamed Broadway) between 3rd and 4th.

Building History

The process of building the Horton House Hotel lasted from 01/01/1870-09/30/1870. It opened for business 10/01/1870 on San Diego's main Plaza.

In 1874, the Horton House was owned by S.W. Craigue and managed by J.A. Gordon. (See Information Relative to the City of San Diego, California, [San Diego: San Diego Daily Union, 1874], p. 43.

Demolition

The Horton House was demolished in 07/1905 to make way for the 8-story U.S. Grant Hotel, San Diego, CA.
