Pasadena architects Hunt and Grey designed this residence for Cincinnati, OH-born attorney and politician Walter Ransome Leeds (1879-1940). Leeds married Anna Fay (d. 1928), the granddaughter of the lumber magnate Thomas D. Stimson (1828-1898) and his wife, Achsah Jane Spencer Stimson (1834-1904), in 1903. The Leeds lived here from late 1907-1930. The next owner, J. Kingsley Macomber (d. 02/1970) and his wife, Pearl Seeley Macomber (d. 03/1965), lived in the dwelling until about 1960.
