Building History

The San Francisco architect William H. Weeks (1864-1936) designed this Neo-Classical courthouse for Elko County, opened in 1911. The Sellman Brothers worked with Weeks as building contractors.

Building Notes

A note in the magazine, Domestic Engineering, said of the Elko County Courthouse #2: “Local heating engineers are preparing bids for the heating work in the new courthouse and jail that is being erected at Elko, Nev. Bids are being received by A.G. Dawley, clerk, and will be accepted until November 1st. W.H. Weeks of San Francisco is the architect.”(See “Pacific Coast,” Domestic Engineering, vol.
